This is a shoot I recently did with Izzy in the basement of a church. I've felt pretty limited and uncreative lately when it comes to portraits, which is why I haven't been taking many. I feel like a lot of times, my portraits lack emotion. I wanted to create something that made people stop for a second and think, "what's going on here?"
For a long time, I've viewed photography as a very singular art form. In other words, I've tried very hard to maintain close control of every aspect of the photo, and usually this leaves me pretty unsatisfied because my photos rarely came out as planned. Lately, I've been trying to use photography as a more collaborative medium. In this shoot, Izzy had as much of an impact on the end result of the photos as I did.
In the next few weeks, I plan on exploring the concept of collaborative art through this blog. Coming up next: B&W 35mm street photography
